COMMENT: No Prague, Brno or Ostrava. The capital of sports is Pilsen
In Pilsen, we have the best golden mok far and wide, the prettiest girls (although that is a rather subjective matter) and thanks to the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, also the highest church tower in the Czech Republic (102.26 m). In addition, the fourth largest city in the country is studded with a number of great athletes…

After the autumn part of the season, the players of Viktoria Plzeň are leading the FORTUNA:LIGU, while Interobal reigns supreme (if only by score) in the highest futsal competition. The handball players of the Talent team of the Pilsen region are currently second (by one point) behind Lovosice. And if they had managed better (especially the first half) Friday’s match with Dukla Praha at home and not lost 31:33, they too would have been at the head of the fourteen-man competition.

Although they got off to a very bad start and soon changed coaches, even the hockey players of Škoda Plzeň are doing well this year and are among the best that the extra league has to offer. They are fifth, with Olomouc losing only four points to third. Christmas will be spent in first place by Akademiki Plzeň, who are five points ahead of UK Hockey Prague and six ahead of third-placed Engineers Prague in this year’s University Ice Hockey League.

Among the top national athletes are, for example, athletes from AK Škoda Plzeň, who won a record 82 medals across all categories at the national championships this year. The regional club also left behind professionals from Dukla Prague, who collected 67 medals, and USK Prague – seventy valuable metals.
Škoda Plzeň has historically taken the most medals from domestic championships
The field hockey players from Litice are also very successful. It’s just a shame that, for example, volleyball, basketball, or floorball in the center of western Bohemia is not blooming much yet. At least at the highest level. But what is not, can be. Anyway: no vaunted Prague, Brno or Ostrava. Pilsen is the main Czech city of sports.
