A quick schedule, a wide scope, understand everything about the Toulouse ZFE
Set up a few months ago, the low-emissions zone (ZFE) in Toulouse will be assessed in the months and years to come. Focus on its specificities.
Motorists regularly traveling in the Toulouse region are affected by the establishment of a ZFE. This area appeared a few months ago, in March. It has already undergone a modification in September. Its implementation will be set to change in 2023 and 2024. Here are its specificities, to understand it.
Toulouse ZFE, a quick timetable for the banning of certain Crit’Air vehicles
Thus, at March 1, 2022, vans and trucks classified Crit’Air 5 and not classified were affected by this measure. Since September 1, 2022, this extended to the same vehicles, carrying a Crit’Air 4 sticker this time. About these vehicles:
- Euro 4 diesel trucks
- Euro 4 biodiesel trucks
In detail, vehicles of this type commissioned before October 1, 2009 are affected by this measure. Motorists remain spared, for their part. But that shouldn’t last.
Cars and motorcycles affected by the ZFE from January 1, 2023
Indeed, from January 1, 2023the EPZ will ban all motorized vehicles certified Crit’Air 4, 5 and unclassified. This concerns these cars and motorcycles:
- Euro 2 diesel vehicles (Crit’Air 5)
- Euro 3 diesel vehicles (Crit’Air4)
- 2 wheels without standard from June 2000 to June 2004 (Crit’Air 4)
Thus, a petrol car registered before September 30, 1997 will be able to drive in the low emission zone… until January 1, 2023alight on the site of the metropolis of Toulouse. From this date, vehicles up to 2005 could evaluate there, before being banned on January 1, 2024.
For diesels, those registered before 2006 can ride until January 1, 2023. Those registered between 2006 and 2010 could run until January 1, 2024.
On the motorcycle side, those registered before June 30, 2004 can drive until January 1, 2023. Those registered between 30 June 2004 and 2006 will be allowed to drive until January 1, 2024.
The map encompasses a perimeter of 72 km²
The Toulouse Low Emission Zone is not just limited to the city’s ring road. Thus, part of the neighboring municipalities of Colomiers and Tournefeuille are also concerned. All for a perimeter of 72 km².
This ax includes in particular the West Rocade. On the other hand, the Rocade Arc-en-Ciel and the Rocade Est are not affected. The same for the A62, A620, A68, A61, A64, A624 or even A621 motorways. 430,000 inhabitants live in this area.
Remember that Low Emission Zones have been set up in agglomerations of more than 150,000 inhabitants. What will concern 45 areas in France by 2025. Their aim is to limit traffic to vehicles considered to be the most polluting, in order to improve air quality.
