Stabbing of women on Novodvorská in Prague: the victims did not know the attacker, he attacked them for no reason
The stabbing of two women in Prague on Saturday is being investigated by the police on suspicion of attempted murder. It was an unprovoked attack, the women did not know the attacker, according to the police, his mental state could be behind the attack. The police reported it on Sunday twitter. A man attacked a woman on Saturday evening in Novodvorská street, both paramedics took them to the hospital, one in serious condition in artificial sleep. The attacker was detained by the police, he died of his injuries on the spot. The General Inspection of the Security Forces (GIBS) is dealing with the case.
“The case is being investigated by detectives from the homicide department on suspicion of attempted murder. According to initial findings, neither the victim nor the assailant (citizen of the Czech Republic, 1988) knew each other and it was an unprovoked attack. One of the versions is that the man could have attacked because of his mental state,” the police said.
The man attacked the women at around 19:00 on Saturday. According to their spokesman Richard Hrdina, the police officers had to use a firearm. The injury was so serious that the man died on the spot despite immediate resuscitation. “The circumstances of the use of service weapons are dealt with by the General Inspectorate of the Security Forces,” said a spokesman for the twitter.
The emergency services took both women to the hospital. According to rescue spokesperson Jana Poštová, one was in a very serious condition, she was taken to the Motol hospital in an artificial sleep. The second woman suffered rather minor injuries, she was conscious the whole time.
