Two flights from Hondarribia to Bilbao diverted due to fog
Hondarribia airport, a foggy day /
The affected planes have been those coming from Madrid and Barcelona that must land early this morning in Hondarribia
The dense fog of the early hours of the morning has prevented the landing of two flights at the San Sebastián airport. Planes from Barcelona and Madrid have been diverted to Bilbao where they have been able to land at Loiu airport.
Early this morning visibility was low in Hondarribia, barely 650 meters horizontally and 400 feet vertically, according to reports from the Twitter account @DonostiAir. For this reason, the Vueling company flight that had taken off at 6:47 a.m. from Barcelona was unable to land at the Gipuzkoa airport and was diverted to Loiu, where it landed at eight in the morning.
The same has happened with the Iberia flight from Madrid. The plane took off without problems at 7:33 a.m. from the Madrid capital, but as it approached Hondarribia it ran into a large bank of fog. After several minutes of waiting, it was finally decided to divert the plane to Bilbao, where it landed at 9:20 a.m.
