Prague 10 allocated 1.2 million to support children with severe disabilities Education | News | Prague Gossip
The Prague 10 district will support families with children who suffer from severe disabilities. In next year’s budget, 1.2 million crowns are reserved for the subsidy program. Parents can apply for support retroactively for the first and second semesters of this school year.
The allowance targets children who are in compulsory school attendance
Subsidies apply to children who hold a valid ZTP/P disability card. They must also go to school on a daily basis and have a permanent residence in the city district.
“The town hall has been announcing the subsidy program every year for many years, and the response has been very positive. This is address help for those who really need it. Caring for a child with a severe disability is extremely demanding, not only mentally and physically, but also financially, and I believe that our grant will help parents overcome the obstacles in their daily lives,” stated in a press release David Kaspar (STAN), deputy mayor of the city district for social and family policy and healthcare.
Each child will receive up to 25,000 crowns per semester
Parents can thus receive 20,000 crowns for their children per semester if the child attends a specialized school for pupils with disabilities, or 25,000 if the child attends a non-specialized school.
“At the same time, he considers it very important to support children with severe disabilities to be able to go to school, where they integrate into the collective, and therefore into everyday life,” Kašpar continued. But he pointed out that it can be very financially demanding for the family.
Those interested can apply for the subsidy in person or electronically. Applications are submitted retrospectively. In the first half of this year, the town hall is open throughout February and March, in the second half from July 1 to the end of September.
