High sick leave: With Metronom, numerous train connections were canceled on Saturday
The local transport company Metronom is now also affected by a high level of sick leave.

Hanover. At the local transport company Metronom, numerous connections will be canceled in the coming days. The reason for this is the large number of short-notice sick notes. A number of train cancellations are to be expected, especially on Sunday evening, says spokeswoman Miriam Fehsenfeld. “Things looked reasonably good for us until the middle of the week.” However, since Wednesday the number of sick leave has increased rapidly.

More than 10 percent of train drivers are currently on sick leave, while others are already on Christmas vacation, says Fehsenfeld. Attempts are being made to fill the open shifts, but the situation will remain tense at least until the beginning of the week.

Metronom tries to avoid large-scale train cancellations
It is not possible to say exactly which connections will be affected in the next few days, as the local transport company is planning on a daily basis in this situation, says the spokeswoman. There may be cancellations without replacement on all routes throughout the network. “We are trying to set mostly all large, cross-line train rotations in order to at least minimize large-scale failures.”

Passengers are asked to primarily use the app and the Deutsche Bahn website for information, generally plan more time and check alternative travel options.
