Hungary came second in the European Union in an important area – Western Light
The government will not be proud of this.
He published the 2022 EU consumption data from Eurostat, which shows that: in Hungary, the second in terms of spending is in the European Union, only Bulgaria precedes it. In practice, this means that
our country is the second poorest country in the EU.
According to the statistical office of the Union, the financial situation of a country can be measured most precisely by actual individual consumption. This shows how much consumer goods and services households buy.
In Hungary, consumption reaches 70% of the EU average — this is just as good as last year. Last year, the Bulgarian value was 61%, the Croatian 68, and the Latvian exactly the same as the Hungarian.
According to this year’s data, Croatia and Latvia have overtaken us, and Bulgaria has almost caught up with us. Since our value is stagnant, we have worsened our situation last year, so Hungarian consumption is in 26th place out of 27 EU countries.
Here are the changes:
- Lithuania: 95 -> 97
- Czech Republic: 84 ->85
- Slovenia: 82 -> 85
- Poland: 83 -> 84
- Romania: 80 -> 84
- Estonia: 77 -> 80
- Latvia: 70 -> 76
- Croatia: 68 -> 72
