The region complains to the head of the control committee that it is superior to Kladno in the transport dispute
A wave of criticism fell on the head of the late regional representative and chairman of the control committee, Robert Bezdek, after one of the representatives of the Central Region revealed the dark standard of traffic service (SDO) last year.
It concerns the governorship of the existing system of the scope of public transport in individual cities and municipalities and their financial contribution to its operation. Some members of the regional coalition accuse him of promoting the city of Kladno, where he is the deputy mayor and councilor, over the Central Region.
It was decided not to mention that one of the control committees on standards was represented by the first representatives of the city of Kladna, as an example one of the problems of the Central Region Governor Petra Peckov (STAN).
Kladno is also the oldest member of the SDO. Refusal to join the system, he considers it illegal, he was even sued by the Regional Court in Prague. He did not make a decision in the dispute.
Inspection in favor of Kladno
Critics fear that Bezdek, as chairman of the control committee, could reveal sensitive and non-public information that could damage the region in the first dispute. Although the proposal for Bezdek’s dismissal did not pass, the chairman was urged to fight only within the limits of his powers.
The regional councilor for public transport, Petr Boreck (STAN), is convinced that the Bezdkv control committee exceeded its powers with a non-critical report to the SDO in favor of Kladno in August this year.
The representatives were not asked to do so (committee, editor’s note). I accept that (Robert Bezdk, editor’s note) as chairman has his own views and is a representative of the opposition, but it is not possible for him to appear at some of the municipal mayors’ meetings on financial support for public transport without the authority of the region and the position of chairman of the control committee criticized and called him incompetent. It’s not against the first, but it’s very inappropriate, get along Boreck.
Regional representative Vlastislav Mlek and councilor Milan Vcha (both for STAN) have doubts about the limit of legal competences by the control committee. Not even regional representative and former mayor of Kladno Dan Jirnek (ODS) is a critic.
An unusual situation has arisen, when the chairman of the control committee of the regional council is a member of the body of two opposing parties to the legal dispute, i.e. the regional representative and the deputy mayor and councilor of Kladno. Should such a state end, the regional council should deal with it. One side of the court could already have information about the other party’s planned course of action, Jirnek pointed out.
Bring back the broken buses!
Robert Bezdk is convinced that the arguments made against him are groundless, and as a late representative and chairman of the committee, he must first point out the shortcomings of the system.
The head of the region has repeatedly asked him for information, among other things, about the routes of travelers to Kladno, according to which the number of bus routes in this region is determined. In response to the attitude of the Kladno town hall, the region has drastically reduced the number of buses since then. Only on the basis of data on transported persons can it be assessed whether the system is up to date from an economic point of view or not, said Bezdk.
In August, at the beginning of the regional control committee, it clearly stated in favor of Kladno. Due to the identified doubts, the committee recommended that the Central Czech representatives conclude a new contract with the SDO updated as cities and municipalities from the beginning of 2023 at the latest. Those who refuse the county’s financial contribution to public transport, leave the number of bus lines standing. And where you need to reduce them, move them to the return lines.
In the ongoing tenders for a new transporter, the region should allow descending cities and municipalities in uphill areas, so that the range of transport better meets their needs. I don’t see anything wrong with that at all, declared Robert Bezdk.
However, neither the regional leader nor the coalition representative accepted the demands of the control committee. According to the councilor for public transport Petr Borecky, the agreement on the contribution to the SDO and the scope of the transport was found in the region with more than 90 percent of the cities and municipalities.
On the other hand, not only Kladno has yet to sign the contract, but so did the center of the city, specifically Mlad Boleslav or Pbram.
