Paramedic Aleš Benda (†47) died. He is survived by his wife and five children
Aleš Benda died suddenly at the age of 47 on Saturday, December 10. “An indomitable rescuer, a kind trainer, but above all a great person,” wrote the Prague 22 Municipal District on the social network. The Prague ambulance service is also saddened by the great loss. She posted a mourning banner on her Facebook profile. “Over the weekend, our former colleague Aleš Benda, who served us for almost 30 years, died suddenly. An extremely experienced rescuer, a great partner and person,” the rescue service shared on the social network.
That Benda was not only a great person was confirmed by his colleague and at the same time friend Fanda. “Aleš was a partner, but most of all a friend, who he relied on in everything. When a person needed something, all he had to do was say or pick up the phone and Aleš helped,” a colleague confided. As a paramedic, Benda was able to cope even in the most difficult situations, always kept a cool head, was patient and kind to patients. Benda worked at the Prague ambulance at the same time as a trainer of new employees and also served in the air ambulance service. “He could pass on an incredible amount of experience and I learned a lot from him. I think many of us are still benefiting from what we learned from Aleš,” said colleague Fanda.
Rubenda, as people called him, was a man of many functions. In the years 2006 – 2014, he was still under his original name Aleš Rubek as a representative for the ODS. Until 2014, he also worked as a councilor for healthcare and social affairs. As councilor in Bend, he organized a meeting of doctors. They tried to ensure that the doctors in Prague 22 had the best conditions and could take care of their patients. He campaigned for the installation of a public defibrillator at the city hallin 2013 he created the first directory of local medical offices, social services or schools.
Benda was a great trainer, he taught the basics of first aid all over the Czech Republic. His work made sense, even very complex ones, and he was able to convey his expertise with enthusiasm and understanding. “Several years in a row, we had the opportunity to meet his irresistible way of teaching in the field of healthcare in the Health project, which always consisted of ten seminars and took place in the premises of the Uhřínev Museum,” the city district said on its website. For fifteen years, Benda also worked as the director of the Institute of First Aid Methodology.
Aleš Benda was not only a great rescuer, councilor or director, he was also a husband and father of five children. They are now experiencing the most difficult moments of their lives. The family had to deal with one tragedy already. Bend’s wife died of skin cancer when his daughter was only eight years old. He had to deal with a difficult fate alone with two children. A new friend Aleša brought light into their lives, the children took her as their second mother and together they created a new big family. Aleš and his new wife had three more children.
Collection
The family fulfilled their dream and bought a house, which they reconstructed. The dream house thus became a symbol and the new home of the family. However, after Benda’s death, the family is struggling with a lack of finances. Therefore, a mortgage collection is underway so that the family does not lose a roof over their head and their beloved home.
“Our dad was the best and most worthy person under the sun. He helped, and not only for his family and friends, he was willing to do everything in his power. He loved riding motorcycles, old cars and scuba diving. He was a paramedic at the Prague rescue service, where he served for almost 30 years. He saved thousands of lives. But, unfortunately, there was no help for him,” daughter Natálie wrote about her father.
Many people visited the surviving family, among them was also a colleague Fanda, who called for the collection with a touching message on the social network. “Aleš would be the first to start organizing help for one of his colleagues. We will now help his loved one and repay him a little for all the good he has done not only for us. Thanks to everyone who joins me,” shared colleague Fanda.
