– It’s almost too much, because I can’t limit myself
PCristina Vising-Swartz lives in Frederiksberg with her husband Mikhael and their two daughters. Cristina works as a stylist and interior consultant, and therefore constantly meets new trends that inspire her. But Christmas at home still has a fast pace.
– Even though Christmas looks the same from year to year in our home, it is still an overarching thought that I always return to. I am quite faithful to my decorations, which are eye-catching and large. The Christmas decorations should complement the interior and the style, and not overwhelm or overpower it, says Cristina, adding:
– But the decoration must have its place.
Stine has new Christmas decorations every year
The stylist loves to make different decorations every year.
– It’s almost too much, because I can’t control myself, she says with a smile.
In the three living rooms, which are in a row, large, decorated wreaths hang from the roof so that they can be seen from all the rooms. Vases and jars are decorated with fresh bouquets and plants, and in the middle of the decorated Christmas table is an impressive table decoration.
– At least you can say that I’m betting everything on Christmas. I love everything about Christmas, it’s a celebration of the heart, and it must be celebrated, I think, says Cristina and continues:
– With us, the holiday is marked so that you really know it, with traditions, gatherings, food and, not least, presence. We don’t limit ourselves when it comes to Christmas decorations either. The house is decorated with a large Christmas tree and lots of homemade decorations every year.
This year, Cristina is starting from materials from nature when she gets the house ready for Christmas. Wreaths, bouquets, light decorations and table decorations are tied with fresh green twigs from the garden and have been combined with dried flowers in shades of pink and red.
All the green decorations are homemade, and Cristina has had the help of her two daughters, Cecilia and Olivia, who are also creative.
– We enjoy ourselves when we make things and decorate. It’s a big job, but once I’ve settled on colors and style, it’s just a matter of getting started. It is a fun and joint all-day project that has become part of our Christmas tradition.
The Christmas tree is another project. And according to tradition, it is Cecilia and Olivia who are responsible for decorating it. The ceiling height in the hall transitions to floors, which gives the opportunity to have a difficult three here. And it requires both patience – and a ladder – to decorate it. The decorations on the things are a mixture of things that are inherited, souvenirs and other funny elements.
Another quick Christmas tradition with the family is that they have a quick gathering for family and friends on December 20. This is the birthday of Cristina’s mother, and the party will be both a celebration of her and of the fact that Christmas is approaching.
– Unfortunately, mother is no longer with us, but she is in our hearts, and I will do everything to hold on to that in a nice way. We do it with love, guests and family on this day every Christmas, says Cristina.
