Mette Frederiksen is ready to form a government in Denmark – Dagsavisen
Thus, the protracted government negotiations in Denmark are coming to an end.
The bourgeois Liberals and the Moderates are part of the future coalition. Together with Frederiksen’s Social Democrats, the parties together have 89 out of 179 seats in the Folketing. In addition, Venstre has support from a Faroese representative, while the Social Democrats have support from a representative from the Faroe Islands and one from Greenland.
Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported by the Danish People’s Party and the center party Radikale Venstre that they had withdrawn from the negotiations.
– When we chose at the very highest time to be grateful to sit in the government, it is because we did not find quite the same level of ambition in what concerns Denmark’s future, when party leader Martin Lidegaard in Radikale Venstre to DR. They have long wanted a broad coalition government and pushed for new elections when they signaled no confidence in Frederiksen this fall.
According to the policy the break was due to Radikale Venstre not being satisfied with how far the other parties were willing to go when it comes to efforts for children and young people, as well as climate policy.
After the election on 1 November, Frederiksen was quick to announce that she primarily wanted a broad coalition government. This despite the fact that the red bloc secured a narrow majority.
Enhedslist withdrew early from the negotiations, followed by the Socialist People’s Party (SF). Both criticize the prime minister for moving too far to the right in the government negotiations.
