Czech Railways announced the restrictions on their Twitter account. They cite an “increased number of malfunctions related to the current weather” as the reason. The carrier apologized for the complications. We are determining the number of decommissioned units.
The restriction applies to lines S1 (Prague – Český Brod – Kolín) and S9 (Lysá nad Labem – Benešov). This is not the first such problem, major problems occurred in the winter of 2021, when powdery snow got into the wiring.
Pre-Christmas fires avoided Central Bohemia. Let it last!
It enters vehicles through the cooling vents, where it melts and causes a short circuit. Last year, ČD stated that they were negotiating with the manufacturer about a possible design change of the cooling vents. This could consist in modifying the outside of the blinds to increase the protection of the electrical installation.
They also have problems with the lack of units in the Moravian-Silesian region. According to the site about tracking the deployment of trains sledovani.55p.cz, only four are running. Two are under repair, six are retired due to snow.
We are preparing the details.
