Hanover (dpa/lni) – The various crises at the end of the year are expected to put more companies in Lower Saxony under pressure than in 2021. According to Creditreform 2022, the proportion of insolvent companies per 10,000 companies will increase slightly. As the credit agency announced on Tuesday, the number is likely to increase from 41 to 46.
Reasons for the nationwide increase in corporate insolvencies are therefore the increased energy costs as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Creditreform considers this development to be only the beginning of accelerating the insolvency proceedings. “Persistent inflation, rising interest rates and energy costs, and an increasingly tough competitive situation are affecting the substance of many companies,” said Patrik Ludwig Hantzsch, head of Creditreform’s economic research.
In Bremen, on the other hand, the insolvency rate has fallen significantly to 82 – contrary to the trend in Lower Saxony and nationwide. In a country comparison, however, the rate is still very high, only in Berlin is it higher.
