The first Christmas tree in the Czech Republic was in Libni
Osmička is proud of her Christmas trees, especially the one in Libni on Elsnicova náměstí. The very first Christmas tree in the Czech Republic was decorated there in 1812, and Prague 8 continues this tradition. In addition, the Libeň town hall also had one in Karlín and another in Kraków decorated. They are spruce trees that are around thirteen meters and were donated by citizens. The other two spruces, on Ládví and at Glowackého Elementary School, are growing.
They lit them all at the end of November. Already on November 21, the one in Karlín, and in the course of the next four days the others.
The district did not have to worry about an increase in expenses for lighting elements. “The lighting decoration was not limited by the energy crisis, the prices for this year are competitive and at the same amount as last year, so funds were prepared for this in the budget,” the spokesperson of the eighth district informed the editors of Pražská Drbna Martin Šalek.
