Toulouse-Castres motorway: New action by Extinction Rebellion
The Extinction Rebellion collective, associated with the motorway project between Toulouse and Castres, covered around fifty billboards with its own posters.
Collective Extinction Rebellion demand a new action of “civil disobedience”. On the night of December 10, its members covered around fifty billboards with their own posters against the motorway project between Toulouse and Castres. The posters were put up in Castres and along the route of the motorway project.
“This action of civil disobedience has for but to announce the disastrous consequences of this project and to call on the population to give their opinion during the current public inquiry, ”indicates the collective. “Thus, on the dummy campaign poster on the highway, we can read roughly “17 euros per day round trip”; “3,660,000 m2 of artificial land” or even “Highly described Environmental Authority”. »
Invitation to participate in the public environmental inquiry on the Toulouse-Castres motorway
Also, at the bottom of the posters, the collective invites the inhabitants of 33 municipalities to participate in the environmental public inquiry, open since November 28 and until January 11, 2023. “It is in 33 municipalities that citizens have the opportunity to express themselves and not just in six places”, says the collective. “They and they have their say, can decide the face of their territory and refuse this useless project at a time when we are told to be more sober…”
This project is also considered the most expensive motorway journey in France for only a maximum of 24 minutes saved per round trip. The construction would have other consequences caused, such as the repetition of floods, an impact caused on biodiversity and an increase in pollution ”, indicates the collective Extinction Rebellion.
The latter regrets that the RN126, which already exists, just needs to be upgraded. On this one, the traffic is not saturated. But with the construction of the A69, it will be downgraded to departmental.
