Railjet also now between Olomouc and Prague. The state-of-the-art InterJet will also be added
The missing pendolin deployment brought about a change in the regular Czech Railways vehicle on the busiest domestic line between Prague and Ostrava. From Olomouc, it will first travel by railjet until the middle of the year, then InterJet.

In the new timetable valid from Sunday, December 11, 2022, Railjet operates the IC 516 Ostravan route, which departs from Olomouc to Prague at 6:14 am. In the opposite direction, it is used on the IC 517 Ostravan route departing from Prague hl. n. at 19:34 with arrival in Olomouc at 21:48.
Railjet will operate these trains daily from the timetable change until 30 June 2023. The train will be mandatorily reserved and will offer the usual services of railjet sets: restaurant car, Wi-Fi, children’s cinema, possibility to recharge travel electronics, seats for people in wheelchairs or for transport bicycles and more.
The first new RegioPanter is in Olomouc. Soon it will start carrying passengers
Railjet and InterJet occasionally appear on the route between Prague and Ostrava as a replacement for the Pendolin when it is missing, for example due to an accident or a technical fault. Railjet runs mainly from Prague to Vienna and Graz, InterJets are deployed on Western Express to Cheb and Krušnohor express trains.
InterJet is waiting for a daily turn
One InterJet set will also be deployed between Prague and Ostrava. The most modern train of the Czech Railways will continue to serve IC 506 connections Ostravan Ostrava hl. n. (13:13) – Ostrava-Svinov (13:21) – Olomouc hl. n. (14:14) – Pardubice hl. n. (15:33) – Prague-Libeň (16:27) – Prague hl. n. (16:34) and IC 503 Ostravan Prague hl. n. (9:34) – Prague-Libeň (9:41) – Pardubice hl.n. (10:31 a.m.) – Olomouc hl. n. (11:48) – Ostrava-Svinov (12:37) – Ostrava hl. n. (12:45 p.m.).
The flight will offer all the services common to modern InterJet units, such as on-board Wi-Fi, the possibility to recharge travel electronics, a children’s cinema, places for people in wheelchairs or a minibar. The trains are equipped with special windows that allow easy passage of the mobile signal into the interior of the train, making it easier to make calls and receive data while driving.
New timetable in the Olomouc region: canceled connections and new and faster trains
In the 2023 timetable, České dráhy offers SC Pendolino connections on the Ostrava – Olomouc – Pardubice – Prague backbone line, very fast IC Ostravan and Opavan connections with mandatory reservations and a standard EC/IC stop with multiple stops.
The fastest connections cover the route Prague – Ostrava in 3 hours 3 minutes, in the opposite direction in 3 hours 13 minutes. On the other hand, it ends with the Hukvaldy expressways.
Czech Railways lost one pendolino in this year’s accident in Bohumín. He will miss others during the year due to the start of fitting ETCS to these units.
