8 people in pre-trial detention for aggravated pimping and human beings
A street prostitution network has just been dismantled in Toulouse. The operation led by a hundred police officers took place in a camp of Roma from Bulgaria. 8 people were remanded in custody, charged with aggravated pimping and human trafficking.
The “descent” took place on Monday, December 5. A hundred police officers, including men from the elite unit of the RAID, intervened in a camp located at the edge of the ring road of Toulouse. 5 men and 4 women were arrested.
Young women on the sidewalk 7 days a week
The young women concerned were “forced” to walk the streets, 7 days a week, whatever the weather conditions. On the spot, they were even “supervised”. They lived in caravans, between the bypass and a hypermarket, or squats.
Much street prostitution in Toulouse is of foreign origin, with pimps resorting to violence.
A source close to the investigation
It is the specialized interregional jurisdiction of Bordeaux which had opened a judicial investigation after being alerted by the prostitutes.
The prostitutes lived in a camp, between the Toulouse bypass and a hypermarket, or squats.
The case also includes a money laundering component, as the income from prostitution was sold by pimps in Bulgaria.
The investigation is led by the Direction of the judicial police of Toulouse. 5 men and 4 women were arrested. Of these 9 people, 8 are terminated for aggravated procuring and trafficking in human beings. They were remanded in custody. The 9th person is under judicial control.
