In Prague, the number of pharmacies with night emergency services has decreased, there will be nine of them. “We were forced to limit operations due to the lack of pharmacists,” said the commercial deputy director of Bulovka, a pharmacist Pavel Šroub. According to him, the hospital offers very good working conditions, including a recruitment allowance. “It is very difficult to get new pharmacists on the labor market and to fill them in night shifts,” he added.
The capital has 1.33 million permanent residents, in reality, according to estimates, there are about 250,000 more people living in the metropolis. According to the information on the website of the Prague municipality, other pharmacies with emergency services are located in the hospitals in Motol and Krč, in the polyclinics in Palackého Street in the center of Prague, in Šustov in the Southern Town, in Plananské in Malešice and others on Vítězné náměstí in Dejvice, in Františka Křížka Street in Letné and on Náměstí Miru in Vinohrady. The Czech Chamber of Pharmacy (ČLnK) also lists a pharmacy in Na Františku Hospital.
For the approximately 9.2 million people with permanent residence outside Prague, there are another eight pharmacies with night emergency services. According to ČLnK, there are two figures in Ostrava and Pilsen, one each in České Budějovice, Brno, Olomouc and Hradec Králové.
