Fatal victim after major accident on E40 in Beernem, one lane on highway towards Brussels heavy (Beernem)
A fatal traffic accident happened on the E40 towards Brussels on Thursday morning. Two cars, a Porsche and a BMW, were involved in a major crash. two people were injured and one fatality.
The accident happened just after 9 a.m. at kilometer 74 near Beernem, in the direction of Brussels. Two cars involved in a major crash, one of which ended up in the canal. Fire brigade, police and the mosquito quickly on the spot.
It is still unclear how the accident happened. There were two victims in the BMW with an English number plate. The driver was thrown from the vehicle in the crash. There was no help for the man. A passenger was seriously injured and was taken to hospital by the mosquito. In the other vehicle, one person is slightly violent.
“One fatal victim was injured in the accident,” says the federal road police of West Flanders. It is clear that it was a serious accident: both cars were badly injured and all airbags deployed.
The E40 was closed in the direction of Brussels for more than an hour, amounting to a kilometre-long traffic jam. Federal highway police are assisted by local police to divert traffic.
