FIA World Council took over the calendars for 2023 and did not replace the canceled Chinese Grand Prix.
The World Council of the International Automobile Federation, meeting in Bologna, Italy, took over all the world calendars for 2023, not accepting the entry of Portugal in the Formula 1 program, for the place left open by China.
The Shanghai race was canceled for the fourth time due to the rules to combat covid-19 and the Autódromo do Algarve was named as the main candidate to occupy the vacancy, on April 16, with Turkey as its biggest rival.
After all, the FIA did not accept any of the proposals and left an empty space in the month of April, which will have the Australian Grand Prix on the 2nd and the Azerbaijan GP on the 30th.
Candidates to enter the Formula 1 calendar would have to pay an amount of around 30 million euros and which has been negotiated in recent weeks. As a result, no deal.
