In all cases, the person responsible simulates that the sender is the US company Tesla – and the authorities suspect that the objective is to affect Tesla’s image, taking advantage of the international alarm in the face of the war in Ukraine
The Judiciary Police’s Counterterrorism Unit has already established the identity of the author and sender of the two suspicious letters that were sent to the Ukrainian embassy in Lisbon last Monday, TVI/CNN Portugal knows. They are suspected of containing chemical traces or an incendiary product.
Analyzes carried out on the envelopes and the contents of the letters at the Ricardo Jorge Institute and at the Scientific Police Laboratory detected biological traces of animal blood and animal eyes – the same “author’s signature” already identified in other letters sent in packages to embassies and consulates of the Ukraine in Spain, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Czechia and Italy.
In all cases, the person responsible simulates that the sender is the American company Tesla – and the authorities suspect that the objective is to affect Tesla’s image, taking advantage of the international alarm in the face of the war in Ukraine.
The author of these threats is identified in a country of the European Union, TVI/CNN Portugal knows, in a situation that from the outset competes in parallel with another that has an impact on Spain. It should be noted that Spanish entities, namely the Government, also received several packages with a mechanism that causes an outbreak by sudden flame.
The PJ’s investigation continues, in conjunction with its European counterparts.
the envelopes who arrived this Monday afternoon at the Ukrainian embassy in Lisbon and that officials considered the suspects had “a specific smell”, TVI / CNN Portugal learned. In addition, the letters, which arrived by regular mail via CTT, had “characteristics that corresponded to the description of the envelopes that were received at other embassies” – these had either animal remains or explosive devices
After the dozens of letters received at other embassies, the Ukrainian Government had already given indications to officials on how to act in a similar situation. That’s what I did: they called the PSP. After arriving at the scene, the police did not detect any signs of gunpowder or other explosive devices in the envelopes.
The alert was given around 15:00 and by 17:00 it was in the local teams of the Special Police Unit, namely the Center for Inactivation of Explosive Devices and Underground Security, despite the suspicious envelopes.
