Ons Jabeur, crowned “Champion for Peace” of the year 2022
Tunisian tennis player and world number two, Ons Jabeur, has won the 2022 “Champion of Peace” award, recently announced during the “Peace and Sport Awards” ceremony, held in Monaco as part of the 13th edition of the International Forum “Peace and Sport”.
“International tennis player Ons Jabeur, an inspiration to women and youth around the world, has been awarded the Champion for Peace of the Year Award,” according to the festival’s official website.
Major players in the world of sport were invited, through this event, international decision-makers to make good use of sport as a tool for transmitting the values of peace, relying on its universal character, among others.
Ons Jabeur is the rising star of tennis and Tunisian sport after two exceptional seasons during which she won the WTA250 in Birmingham, WTA1000 in Madrid and WTA500 in Berlin.
The ceremony of the “Peace and Sport Awards” was held in the presence of the President of Liberia George Weah and the two legends of football Rai and Didier Drogba, as well as more than 50 high-level speakers, from four continents, including several Champions of Peace.
