Beaten after a badly negotiated last quarter, ASVEL chained a 5th defeat in a row in the EuroLeague against AS Monaco, Thursday evening (84-75). Find the reactions of Sasa Obradovic, TJ Parker, Amine Noua and Donatas Motiejunas.
Sasa Obradovic (AS Monaco coach): ” I hope John (Brown) is nothing serious. He is very important for our team and our rotations. I am very happy with the victory. We didn’t put on the best show but we found a way to win quite calmly in the second half. But there is still a lot of room for improvement. I was not completely satisfied with our game because on a stop to spin the ball but the offensive rebounds were precious to us. »
“We are not at the bottom of the hole”
TJ Parker (ASVEL coach): ” It was a good duel for three quarters but the start of the 4th act hurts us. Losing 21 balls and giving them 17 offensive rebounds is huge. It’s hard to win the game in such conditions. I try to forget that we are in a bad patch, I saw good things this (Thursday) evening, I want to bounce back and build on what we have seen.We are in what we want to do. We have play small ball this (Thursday) evening but it will depend on the opponent we face. »
Amine Noua (ASVEL strong winger): ” LThe start of the game was very close but the third quarter and the start of the 4th act cost us dearly with all the offensive rebounds. We didn’t know how to put sound on for a while. It was played out in few details but Monaco was able to get away in the second half. We have no excuse to find. We lose way too many balls. AS Monaco deserves its victory. We know that the December calendar will be tough, we have to move forward at all costs and try to progress as much as possible. We are not at the bottom of the hole, the season is long. »
Donatas Motiejunas (inside AS Monaco): “In the first half, we didn’t defend well. We let ASVEL score 45 points at halftime. It is for this reason that the match has long been tight. We had too many weak moments and in the second half, we readjusted the shot and we managed to have a lot more open shots. Like every time we meet ASVEL, we were nervous because it’s a “derby”. It has a lot of meaning for the players. No, we haven’t taken our revenge yet. If we face ASVEL in the final in a few months and we win the last match, then that will be the case (smile). »
