Seven new benches in Borgo, one is pink
Symbol of the fight against cancer, it has been positioned in the heart of the city with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of prevention
PISA — A pink bench about the prevention and fight against cancer. It’s the one located in Borgo Largo, in the heart of the city, where 6 other seats have also been installed in recent days, to replace the old ones.
The pink bench, installed as part of the “Get up… do prevention!” organized by the Italian League against cancer (Lilt) and the Municipality of Pisa, was inaugurated today with the councilor for social policies Veronica Poli and the volunteers of the association.
“As an administration – said the councilor for social policies Veronica Poli – we have joined the initiative together with Lilt to place a pink bench in the heart of the city to raise awareness of public opinion on such an important issue as cancer prevention, especially for women. In this month, in fact, many free visits have been made, especially for the prevention of breast cancer. And I hope that many who will sit here from now on want to take the opportunity to undertake specialist prevention visits”.
“The pink bench is our symbol. It has an important function in the field of cancer prevention which is a disease that today can be overcome with early prevention – says the president of Lilt Francis Prestiphilip -. So the bench reminds all women that with a simple visit a much worse evil can be prevented. Our mission as Lilt is precisely to remind everyone of the importance of prevention. In this sense, we make clinics available to achieve the goal of maximum prevention”.
