Athens: On Thursday, the Christmas tree is lit in Syntagma

The events from 1/12 to 7/1

From December 1 to January 7a number of events will take place throughout Athens, according to the announcement of the Municipality of Athens.

In the center and in the neighborhoods, the rich program of events designed for young and old and curated by the Organization for Culture, Sports & Youth of the Municipality of Athens (OPANDA), the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens, This is Athens and the radio station of the city of Athens 9.84 , will include – among other things – activities for the whole family, musical performances, “Christmas villages”, parties, impressive shows, an original Christmas Market in Omonia Square, as well as many festive surprises.

Ten “Christmas villages” in the neighborhoods

From the 23 December until 6 January, the neighborhoods of Athens, from Acharnon and Lamprini to Pagrati and Hellinorosson, are transformed into “Christmas villages”. This year, two more are added in the neighborhoods of Athens, where the “heart” of Christmas will beat. The events are accompanied by, among others, stilt walkers, jugglers, Christmas mascots, animateurs, puppets and jugglers.

Festive live and performances

On the stage of Syntagma Square, from December 20 to 28, which are present every day three live events.

New Year’s Eve is back in Syntagma Square. The Municipality of Athens promises to welcome the new year with an audiovisual extravaganza with lots of music, fun, dancing, fireworks, glitter and many surprises!
