Timenet Empoli between ups and downs in Florence, with Rinascita Volley ends 3-2
The fans of the PalaCoverciano in Florence yesterday witnessed almost incredulous two different matches in one, which gave birth to the Timenet Empoli Volleyball and the landlords of the Rinascita Volleyball. The first one, after having won by shining in the first two sets, was seen being reached by the landlords one step away from the match point to then give in and continue to suffer the opponent’s game for the rest of the match, ending in tie break 3 -2. Before the kick-off, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of Nico Carli, father of a young Empoli Volleyball athlete who was the victim of a road accident in recent days.
“It was like watching two different matches between the first two sets and the last in which our girls stopped playing – commented Alberto Cenni, scout and fitness coach at Timenet – It was difficult for them to be close to victory and then losing, but there was a lack of lucidity making mistakes in all the fundamentals while our opponents managed the game well until the end. A game to be archived to immediately put your head to the next challenge which will be an important match against the leaders Montesport: for us it will be the litmus test and surely the girls will give their all and react appropriately”.
The formations begin by taking measures although the yellow and blacks show greater incisiveness by clearing away their opponents, so much so that the rossoblu coach Matteo Rovai asks for a time out first on 5-9 and then on 5-12. The register at Timenet does not change, overcoming the doubling of the Rebirth at 9-19. From there the games are soon over and the Empoli finish 12-25.
Same script in the second set which is characterized by more prolonged exchanges and an attempt at increasing resistance by Rinascita Volley launched in pursuit until mid-set. Then Timenet increases the pace by focusing on fast and powerful attacks that pierce the opposing defenses, first safely reaching 12-20 and concluding 14-25.
The match comes to life in the following partial in which the teams proceed in a draw until halfway through, after which the yellow and blacks separate, reaching 18-22 again. The Timenet continues to play reaching the fateful 21-24 but surprisingly the landlords react by restoring parity and proceeding in this way until they take the lead 27-26 and then win 28-26.
In the fourth set the Empoli feel the pinch and are called to order by coach Marco Dani for the second time on the eloquent 11-3. The rest of the partial is in favor of the rossoblu who mark the distances despite the good recovery of Timenet 18-11. The yellow and blacks shortened the gap up to 21-16, but making mistakes that earned the opponents the victory 25-16.
The tie break lasts a handful of minutes with the Florentines running away immediately arriving at the field change 8-1 and, regardless of the yellow and black recovery attempt at 10-5, they end up winning the match in the sprint 15-8. Maintaining the second position in the provisional standings with 20 points, Timenet is now preparing for the heartfelt home derby with the leaders Montesport Montespertoli on the calendar for Sunday 4 December at 17.00 at PalAramini in Empoli.
