Volunteering has become one of the symbols of 2022. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, residents of Warsaw have been supporting our neighbors in many ways, supporting that being helpful and taking responsibility for one’s behavior is part of our urban identity. For volunteering, which makes the city 12,000. persons!

– Varsovians will then be able to face refugees not only through their doors, but above all their hearts. Everyone gave what they could – someone a product, someone clothes, someone could gesture. Volunteers gave, gave – themselves – says the mayor of the capital, Rafał Trzaskowski.

– Volunteers have been invaluable support in many places throughout the city for weeks. Thanks to joint actions, we have shown that Warsaw can always rise to the occasion – says Aldona Machnowska-Góra, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw.

Another campaign promoting the idea of ​​volunteering has just been launched in the capital. It has one goal – thank you to everyone who has been involved in activities in Warsaw in recent years. Not only the “military uprising” of volunteers after the arrival of the first war events from Ukraine.

– In Warsaw, people mentioned different professions, of different ages – people of different types and views. During joint activities, I meet young people, working people and seniors. I encourage everyone to try their hand at volunteering – Director, Coordinator for Entrepreneurship and Social Dialogue at the Warsaw City Hall, Karolina Zdrodowska. – Volunteers and Volunteers! We admire you and admire your passion and commitment.

Warsaw has been different for years, both in terms of constantly growing institutions and organizations where you can volunteer, and in the branch of members involved in various actions. Since 2016, the capital has been running the “Warsaw Volunteers” project, which aims to develop and promote volunteering, and the Municipal Volunteer Portal operates within its framework: ochotnicy.waw.pl. There you can find almost 100 current cases for volunteers divided into various fields – e.g. education, ecology, culture, social assistance, sport, health, animals or for Ukraine. Since the beginning of the portal’s operation, almost 800 volunteer organizers have been announcing their proposals for cooperation for volunteers. This year alone, over 300,000 users have already visited the website – i.e. people who are interested in the subject of volunteering.

The graphics show various places in the city, and in them the inhabitants, among whom volunteers and their contribution to typical activities are indicated.
