The state capital needs reforms in the salary system and in municipal law. Quick shots are not appropriate.
Innsbruck (OTS) – Reflection does not. According to reports, Innsbruck’s mayor Georg Willi wanted to reflect on the past, turbulent days and reflect on the future on the first weekend in Advent. Apart from the mayor’s difficult political situation, the future will die, but will probably have to bring a few reforms. Then there is the salary scheme of the city, whereby one should also question the procedure for filling posts. The fact that the head of human resources was awarded the post and subsequently negotiated it for a long time (and well for her) seems – if you will forgive me – strange.
And on the other hand, the municipal law is also being reformed. The parties in Innsbruck should refrain from hasty quick shots. One does not play with the guard rails of political work. Especially not in such a politically fragile situation. Even if the anger is great and the foam at the mouth is not yet gone. Incidentally, this applies to all cases: Georg Willis’s announcement that the direct election of the mayor was a design flaw is probably out of emotion. Direct elections are an important instrument of democracy. And it also works in other Tyrolean communities. However, it is also clear that any gaps in the control of the system must be filled.
How difficult it is to find a consensus on municipal law was shown by the 4 percent hurdle during this period. But it would make sense to introduce them. Eleven factions now sit on the municipal council. The conditions in Innsbruck don’t make work any easier either. It’s time for the political forces to get back to work.
