Advent: Christmas tree in front of Mirabell Palace illuminated for the first time
On Thursday evening (November 24th) the Christmas tree in front of Mirabell Palace was lit for the first time.
SALZBURG. The Christmas tree in front of Mirabell Palace comes from Muhr im Lungau this year. On Thursday, Mayor Harald Preuner and Mayor of Muhr, Hans-Jürgen Schiefer, ceremonially illuminated the 20 meter high, 70-year-old spruce.
Tree always from a different district
“That is a worthy, beautiful tree. He is over 70 years old, weighs four tons and is more than 20 meters high. An important symbol and a feast for the eyes for the people of Salzburg and our guests,” says Preuner.
The tree was donated by the Karl Bliem family, vulgo “Woifeibauer” from Lungau. The spruce was delivered by the professional fire brigade through the Tauern Tunnel. The employees of the city gardens have set up the Christmas tree on site at Mirabellplatz. The employees of the city lighting took care of the Christmas decorations of the tree.
The Christmas tree in front of Mirabell Palace is donated by a different district of Salzburg each year; last year it came from Kuchl im Tennengau.
