Vigils end in Thessaloniki – The energy crisis also touches the churches
Lights and heating elements that go out in the churches in the next period, by decision of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, due to the energy crisis.
Specifically, as reported in “MtK” by the archbishop of the Metropolis, father Iakovos, a circular will be immediately sent to the parishes with instructions to reduce energy costs. “The chandeliers that will light up will be limited, while we will also reduce the heating” says father Iakovos.
However, the most important decision taken by the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki does not stop the vigils, because they calculated that they have the greatest cost. “We will stop the vigils in our parishes, because in the evening hours more energy is consumed and it costs too much” says the archbishop of the Metropolis.
“For you to understand, only in my parish, of Ag. Therapondas, we need 12,000 euros per month for operating expenses” Father Iakovos gives as an example.
