The Ghetto Blaster closes soon in Rouen: a page turns for its boss

The countdown begins. On December 18, 2022, the Ghetto Blasterdance bar rue Percière in Rouengo close its doors. It is a page that turns for the manager and for all those who have met him for 15 years in Rouen.
La Fée Torchette, the Petit Bar, the Ghetto Blaster…
In effect, Julien Delamare is a familiar face to Rouen partygoers. After doing animation in a youth structure, he cut his teeth at 3 pieces before opening an essential establishment, the Torch Fairythat he held for 10 years before handing over to its employees. He also took over the Little BarDamietta Street.
And in 2019, he also opened the Ghetto Blaster. ” I wanted to do a bar where you could dance earlier than in a nightclub. Many customers told me that there was a request to go dancing before midnight, one o’clock in the morning, he says. I targeted the music from the 80s to 2000, with DJs. »
But not everything went as planned. The Ghetto Blaster opened only a few months before the first containment. “It was a hard blow, a bit of anxiety. Especially since it was off to a good start, ”admits Julien Delamare.
The “need to breathe”
The recovery was difficult with the various health constraints since we could not dance and enjoy the Ghetto Blaster as it should. But, when the constraints were lifted “the customers came back, they found the atmosphere. We started to have regulars, a heterogeneous clientele, from 18 to 50 years old”.
The end of the curfew was a sick thing. It was a hell of an evening and it gave us the banana. Customers were more liberated.
But after fifteen years in the world of the night, Julien Delamare “needs to breathe. I want to dispense with my family, take a real vacation”. However, he will regret “meetings with lots of people from lots of backgrounds. And the relationship with my team, at the top. JB, behind the bar, approved. Julien’s departure and the closing of the Ghetto Blaster, he welcomes them “with a bit of nostalgia. He is a very good boss, very human, who gives us a lot of confidence and freedom”.
Who knows ? Julien may come back later with a new idea. He says it himself: “What I also like is setting up atypical places, places where I would like to go as a client. »
The bar is super formative, we do lots of things: service, people, administration, accounting, plumbing… I have lots of possibilities.
After the Ghetto Blaster, The Elixir
But he leaves time for reflection. In the meantime, we must say goodbye to the Ghetto Blaster. Until December 18, the bar is destocking and offering prices on its cocktails and other drinks. He is also planning a big party on Sunday, December 18, with the nine DJs who have won the bar success.
However, the story is not over for 22 rue Percière. According to our information, a new establishment will take over from the Ghetto Blaster, a cocktail bar called L’Élixir. To be continued…
