Monaco, capital of philately until November 26
ghe great philatelic event of the year, the Principality of Monaco welcomes MonacoPhil 2022organized until 26 November on the Terrasses de Fontvieille.
On this occasion, the Stamp and Currency Museum is exhibiting one hundred emblematic and rare stamps and philatelic documents from, in particular, the collections of Prince Albert II and the Royal Philatelic Collection, as well as foreign national postal museums.
Two thematic exhibitions are presented: one puts India in the spotlight; the other is devoted to the postal history of the Grande Armée of Napoleon Iuh.
Espace Léo-Ferré welcomes about fiftypostal administrations and specialized merchantswhich allows philatelists to enrich their collections or obtain the latest novelties.
For its part, the Postage Stamp Issuing Office (OETP) is selling five new shows:
– The MonacoPhil 2022 block on the theme of Napoleon Iuh and his meeting with Honoré V;
– The block of the joint philatelic issue between Monaco and the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF) on the theme of Albert Iuhunit which will be marketed in its “TAAF” version on the Territory stand ;
– A tribute block to Queen Elizabeth II;
– A stamp for the tenth anniversary of the Princess-Charlene-of-Monaco Foundation;
– A stamp on the mission in the Indian Ocean of the explorations of Monaco.
Four limited-edition souvenir inserts are also distributed:
– The first, numbered, contains the MonacoPhil 2022 block (print run: 3,500 copies);
– The second, in the form of a box, presents a numbered sheet produced in intaglio consisting of a portrait of Prince Albert Iuh and a dated block of four stamps (2,600 copies);
– The third insert is devoted to the joint issue between Monaco and the TAAF. It contains the respective blocks of the two postal administrations (2,000 copies);
– The fourth insert offers a retrospective of the stamp issues related to the commemorations of the centenary of the disappearance of Prince Albert Iuhin the form of a numbered sheet showing the stamps issued in 2021 and 2022 in an unperforated version, as well as an intaglio engraving by Albert Iuh (2,000 copies).
Will all these relatively low drawdowns encourage speculation?… That remains to be seen.
