Launch of the “Cities for All” festival in and around Toulouse
The first edition of the “Villes pour tous” festival, formerly offered in the “Ville & handicap meetings” format, is being organized from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 November in the metropolis of Toulouse. On the program: exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, meetings and shows for all audiences, especially people with disabilities.
“Disability is everyone’s business”, says Christophe Alvès, municipal councilor in charge of social centres, disability and community life in Toulouse. This Monday, November 21 marked the launch of the first edition of the “Cities for All” festivala new format of “City & Disability Meetings”, organized for more than ten years in the pink city.
Many events designed for all audiences, including people with disabilities, take place until Sunday 27 November. They take place in Toulouse and in the metropolis. A “blind wine tasting” is notably organized by the Braille transcription and publishing center in the premises of the Rowling club restaurant on the island of Ramier.
Culture for all
For example, it is possible to live an immersive experience offered by visually impaired people from the Ariège association Why not me in the Bascala performance hall until Wednesday 23 November. “Photographic art can be visited under the fingers, blindfolded, in a sound and perfumed atmosphere”, tease the organizers.
The company Les mains pour le dire invites you to discover his youth show “Craac” at the Cultural Center of the Brique Rouge district. It tells the story of a young bear forced to flee his bank that is cracking. But the animal has a hard time finding a new home, because all its congeners refuse it because of its differences.
“Cities for All” is associated with the “Short film sequence” festival, which will take place from December 7 to 11, to organize a special evening at the José Cabanis media library. Fiction, animation and documentaries that highlight the differences will be projected.
Handisport in the spotlight
In addition to Braille and sign language workshops, the Bascala hosts introduction to handisport as part of the “Cities for All” festival. They will be welded by major Olympics inclusive and fun Saturday 26 November.
But before giving way to the competition, the participants could draw inspiration from the work of the company Bancale. She presents a circus show entitled “The Phantom Member” in the Bascala hall on Tuesday, November 22. The artists will link aerial figures as on the ground, on crutches or in an armchair. Also, the nautical space of Colomiers offers until November 24 water courses for all audiences to better understand water and swimming.
“Cugnaux is mobilizing for employment”
Several workshops and meetings are organized in Cugnaux during the “Villes pour tous” festival. Like the “preparation workshops for interviews” in the town hall, during which job interview simulations with employers. Or animations around the “e-reputation” and telecandicatures.
Similarly, the town hall of Cugnaux offers a awareness workshop for employers, to deconstruct prejudices about the employment of people with disabilities. It will be hosted by Oristelle Marx, a former wheelchair tennis player. She won the bronze medal at the Paralympic Games in the 90s. Today, she is a recruitment trainer for companies.
