Invitation to hand over the petition for an end to the carriages in Salzburg | VGT
On Thursday, the VGT will hand over 24,000 signatures to the mayor of Salzburg.
A responsible mayor must take the citizens seriously and act accordingly. It is unacceptable that one grievance after the other is uncovered, that one’s own contract is systematically not adhered to and is carried out without exception. Even unanimous council decisions are simply ignored. One rightly asks: Is the mayor committed to the citizens and, as the person responsible for animal welfare, to the animals, or five small business owners for whom the contract terms seem just a worthless piece of paper that you don’t need to stick to? Once again, the animals are dying sufferers in this situation. The suffering of horses must end now! This cruelty to animals must not be extended for another five years!

Salzburg –
When: Thursday, 11/24/22, 1:15 p.m. to approx. 1:30 p.m
Where: Mirabell Palace, main entrance
Was: Activists of the VGT handed over the petition “For an end to the Fiacre in Salzburg”.
In 2021, the VEREIN AGAINST TIERFABRIKEN started the petition “For a ban on carriages in Salzburg”, which has been signed by more than 24,000 people so far. On 11/24 the petition will be handed over in front of Mirabell Palace. The responsible mayor Harald Preuner (ÖVP) has received an invitation to accept the petition.
The VGT has already asked Mayor Preuner several times to hand over the petition, but this has so far remained unanswered by his office. To date, Preuner has not only ignored that of the numerous Salzburg citizens after a ban on the Fiacre, but also the unanimous municipal council decision for heat-free from 30 degrees and a repeated temperature measurement at Residenzplatz. Preuner wants despite all this summer uncovered grievances with the fiackers and more than 24,000 signatures collected for an end to this questionable, no longer up-to-date practice, submit a positive official report and extend the contract with the fiackers for the use of the Residenzplatz stand by another 5 years.
