General Assembly: Archabbot Birnbacher remains chairman of the Order Conference
The Austrian Orders Conference elects a new board. The Archabbot of Salzburg, Korbinian Birnbacher, will stay on as chairman for the next three years. The newly elected deputy is Franziska Madl from the Dominican Sisters in Vienna.
SALZBURG. A new board was elected at the General Assembly of the Austrian Orders Conference. The Archabbot of Salzburg, Korbinian Birnbacher (Archabbey of St. Peter) was confirmed in his office as chairman. The Board of Directors is elected for three years.
“There is still a lot to be done”
“I’m delighted with the trust that’s been placed in me. It is an appreciation for what has been achieved and implemented in the team over the past three years. Of course, there is still a lot to be done and we feel obliged to continue to be available. And as chairman, I am happy to be a shaper here,” Birnbacher is quoted as saying on the website of the religious orders in Austria.
“Men’s and women’s orders work well together”
The newly elected deputy chairwoman is Franziska Madl from the Dominikanerinnen Wien-Hacking: “I have had the privilege of getting to know the board over the past three years and I find it impressive how well male and female orders have worked together in this short time. That’s why I’m really looking forward to this new task that’s been assigned to me,” Madl is quoted as saying on the website of the religious orders in Austria.
As another Members of the Board of Directors were chosen:
- Abbot Reinhold Dessl (Wilhering Abbey)
- Provincial Superior Sr. Hemma Jaschke (Steyler Missionary Sisters)
- Provincial Fr. Siegfried Kettner (Salesians of Don Bosco)
- Superior General Sr. Cordula Kreinecker (Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paul in Vienna-Gumpendorf)
as alternate members were chosen:
- General Manager Sr. Susanne Krendelsberger (Caritas Socialis)
- Provincial Fr. Stephan Dähler (Steyler Missionaries)
