Thessaloniki: The unknown history of the Kodra-Karabournaki area (VIDEO)
The history of Kalamaria and specifically its wider area Kodraunfolds through the educational short documentary (10′) created on behalf of the Deputy Mayor of Education, Sports, Youth and Lifelong Learning Municipality of Kalamaria.
The purpose of the documentary is to highlight the ancient history of the Kodra-Karabournaki region, the archaeological excavations that have preceded, as well as those that followed and are ongoing, having revealed findings from the 10th – 9th century. e.g., according to the reports and scientific documentation of archaeologists and historians, Eleni Manakidou (Professor of Classical Archeology – Chair of the Department of History of Archeology, Athens University) and Despina Tsiafaki (Director of Political Research & Managers Research Center Athens) .
“After many meetings-briefings from the archaeologists-responsible for the archaeological excavation in the Great Kopo Park, we felt the obligation and deemed it appropriate, and the highlighting of the historicity of the wider area of Kodra from ancient times to the present day was confirmed,” said the Deputy Mayor of Education. , Youth & Lifelong Learning, Athanasios Giannakos.
The script and direction are by Giorgos Chatzivasileiou, while the creation and screening of the documentary was approved by the Ephorate of Antiquities of the City of Thessaloniki.
