You can take off in the international business world: Germany’s best trainees have won the national foreign language competition. The winners come from Kaiserslautern and Cologne. They were honored in Heidelberg on Saturday. Other prizes went to Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony and Thuringia. The organizer of the competition is Bildungs & Begabung, the center for promoting talent in Germany.
121 trainee groups from all over Germany started the TEAM BUSINESS competition, 14 were invited to the final, 2 shared the victory: A group of prospective IT specialists from BBS 1 Technik Kaiserslautern in Kaiserslautern and a media designer trainee team from the Georg-Simon-Ohm vocational college in Cologne . Second and third prizes go to teams from Cologne, Olpe, Sondershausen, Münster, Teltow and Leipzig.
“The professional world is changing rapidly and is becoming more and more global,” said Michael Remmy, head of the national foreign language competition: “In the TEAM Career competition category, the participants impressively demonstrate their foreign language and specialist skills and thus provide answers to the professional challenges of a highly networked global economy.”
The trainees had qualified with self-produced films, radio plays or multimedia productions about their everyday work. The trainees put their communication skills and creativity to the test in addition to their foreign language skills. In the final of the competition, the trainee tournament, they again had to prove their language and creative skills over the weekend in Heidelberg – in newly assembled teams.
The Federal Foreign Languages Competition is one of the most traditional school competitions in Germany. Since 1979 he has been supporting young people who enjoy foreign languages and cultures.
