The first snow on the roads, the spreaders came out in Prague. The ice warning is still in effect
Roads in Central Bohemia are mostly wet after chemical treatment. It snowed in the region on Friday afternoon and evening, with temperatures dropping to three to five degrees below zero overnight today. The roads are passable, now the situation is relatively calm, said Radek Salač from the regional road administration and maintenance. In places, especially at higher altitudes, there is a thin layer of drifted snow in the sections that are treated with inert sprinkling. In Prague for the first time this winter, the spreaders came out to treat the roads with the first snow. The situation on Prague’s roads is calm, the police have not noticed any problems related to the weather.
In the morning, i.e. after the snow had fallen, there were a total of 167 road maintenance machines in the field. Now there are about ten spreaders, they work in places where local frost has formed, for example in the district of Praha-západ. Spreaders went out in the entire region on Friday for the first time. In the area around Nové Strašecí, the roads already froze considerably on Friday, drivers should expect frost all day, temperatures below zero.
A beautiful snowy morning😉 In most areas there is a new snow cover, up to 8 cm in the lowlands (mostly in S and SW Bohemia), the highest amounts on the Šumava ridges – less than 20 cm. Today the snow will last in the lowlands, in the next few days only on the mountains – more will fall here locally 🌨️ pic.twitter.com/gcOuk36DPX
