Because the hour is serious, the violet, one of the symbols of Toulouse is in danger of disappearing. It’s a long history! One terrible night in February 1956, residents saw a white specter creeping over the plantations. The next morning, disaster, everything is frozen, the violet is dying and the case is closed without understanding what really happened. It’s up to you to solve the investigation using mysterious clues scattered all over the city. It seems like someone is trying to get you to the last bunch of violets.
Divided into teams of 2 to 8 players, participants can, beyond the game, discover Toulouse’s heritage and the city’s cultural history since the scenario is based on legends and real facts, as well as characters who really existed. Support medical research by acquiring a work of art
” Acquire a work of art to help the worldto improve the lot of children, to help them, to support them, it’s all within our power”, says Eric Bachmann, president of the association “111 des Arts”. The latter’s mission is to financially support medical research on cancers and serious illnesses in children. For this, it organizes, every year, an exhibition of original works produced by 111 artistsprofessionals or amateurs, and sale at the single price of 111 euros. 111 creations to discover during this 2022 edition, of which the graffiti artist Fouad, known for his “chickens”, is the godfather.
Some works will even be produced on site, to the delight of visitors who could discover the know-how and dexterity of the artists live. On a large table, in the middle of the exhibition, they will create original paintings, drawings, etc., before their eyes, which they can then dedicate to buyers. The opportunity to interact with painters, engravers and other draftsmen to learn about their world and learn all about their techniques.
And to ask the generous buyers-donors, the association has planned a Jazz concert this Sunday, November 20, hosted by the Toubib Jazz Band from 6:30 p.m. Last year, the operation raised 100,000 euros, which were donated to the Toulouse Children’s Hospital. Because, in parallel with the only sales of works, three raffles are organized to allow you to win a sculpture of Farid Achezegagan array of Thomas Bossardor of patouné. All this for a good cause.
Practical information: “Exhibition 111 of the Arts”, until November 20, from noon to 8 p.m., at the chapel of the Hôtel Dieu de Toulouse. Free admission.
Get lost on the Golden Island of the Théâtre du Soleil
As soon as you enter the Théâtre de la Cité in Toulouse, you will be propelled into the utopian universe of Sun Theater. This emblematic company of the sixth art, founded and directed by the director Ariane Mnouchkineis currently presenting its latest creation “L’Île d’or”. “An event by its rarity and its scale, as it summons one of the greatest figures of French theater and a whole poetic and political philosophy of making and living the theater”, testifies the management of the Toulouse theater. For the occasion, the hall of the building is transformed into a Japanese canteen. A taste of what awaits you when you enter the performance hall.
“One day, taken in a political storm, the Théâtre d’Or breaks the chains and moorings and becomes the Île d’Or. Its gold is not that of mines and banks, it is that of hospitality, the innocent gold that will make it possible to organize a great Party. From the four parts of the world, we disembark. Everyone puts their anger into music, plays it, transforms it and makes it heard. One watchword: promote at all costs the culture of the heart against that of power and the assassins of the mind in an attempt, perhaps, to clarify the chaos of the world”, sums up the Théâtre de la Cité, which welcomes the 30 actors of the Théâtre du Soleil troupe.
A work born from Ariane Mnouchkine’s initiatory journey to Asia in 1963, where her passion for theater was born. She does today share with the spectator his love for his art and for Japan. Perhaps your own initiatory journey…
Practical information: “L’Île d’or”, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November at 2 p.m., at the Théâtre de la Cité in Toulouse. Price: 40€. online booking.
