Which artisan baker makes the best traditional baguette in Haute-Garonne? The thorny question was decided by a jury of professionals on Tuesday, November 16, 2022, during the competition for the best traditional baguette – vintage 2023 – which took place in Toulouse.
A competition organized by the Union of Artisan Bakers and Pastry Chefs of Haute-Garonne (Uapb 31), set up to showcase the know-how of artisan bakers of the department.
Best baguette: here is the list
“The traditional baguette is codified and must respect a number of rules : it must have a specific weight of salt (18 grams per kilo), size (50 cm), and weight (250 grams), and must not contain any additives”, recalled in a previous competition Jean-Pierre Feuillet, president of Uapb 31.
In the end, it’s Adrien Glaivebaker in Fonsorbes (at Les Tabliers toqués bakery), who won the prestigious the best traditional baguette 2023followed in second place by Denis Gael (Denis bakery in Cornebarrieu). Arnaud Rouyreof the Monveillon bakery in Montberon, is in third place.
The best croissant
The same day took place the competition of the best croissant in Haute-Garonne 2023.
And here is the list! This is Maxime Soucheyrebaker in Ramonville-Saint-Agne (Fred l’artisan bakery), who won the competition, ahead of Alban Thomas (Maison Blanchard in Blagnac) and Mathieu Monredon (Boulangerie Monredon in Toulouse), which ranks second and third respectively.
