Frankfurt (Oder) district court: Court sentences drug dealer to several years in prison in lightning trial
After the last verdict for a drug ring in East Brandenburg was spoken, another drug dealer from Frankfurt had to answer to the court. The hearing was over after two hours.
The regional court in Frankfurt (Oder) on Wednesday sentenced a man to several years in prison for armed drug trafficking. Those involved in the process have agreed on a so-called deal.
From the reading of the indictment to the verdict, the trial lasted only two hours, reporters from rbb report. This was made possible because the court, prosecutor and defense had agreed in advance. If the accused made a controlled confession, he was given the prospect of a lower sentence. Also, he had no criminal record. The framework is between two and a half and three years imprisonment. The 33-year-old was sentenced to two years and seven months.
The charges include armed drug trafficking in large quantities and possession of weapons. A kilo of marijuana, almost a hundred grams of cocaine and quickly a kilo of amphetamine were found on the man. The public prosecutor says in court that the quantities involved are relatively large for “provincial standards”, but that they are rather small compared to “real dealers”.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, there were weapons throughout the apartment, including an ax within easy reach on the drying rack, a knife under the mattress in the bed and other weapons such as brass knuckles, a dagger and a telescopic baton. The 33-year-old probably owned all of these weapons in order to be able to defend himself as part of his drug deals.
Wednesday’s trial is not related to the proceedings against a drug ring in East Brandenburg, which were also recently negotiated in Frankfurt (Oder). There, on Monday, a pension operator was sentenced to seven years in prison.
