For the first time this year, the second city district will participate in the autumn campaign of the 100 grams for nature project. Throughout October, citizens and information visitors to the City Hall on Náměstí Míru, the center in Jaromírova Street or the Library in Vinohrady could hand in old and unused mobile phones to the collection boxes. And they managed to select 99 pieces.
“We did not hesitate to join the campaign of the non-profit company Remobil. We definitely welcome any project that helps to protect the environment, and we are happy to expand the portfolio of our activities in the area of environmental protection. Thank you once again to everyone who participated in the campaign with us and handed in their unwanted mobile phone to one of our collection boxes,” he said Deputy Mayor Jan Recman, who is in charge of the environment.
The 100 grams for nature campaign seeks to draw attention to the hidden effects of mobile phones on the environment and the senselessness of accumulating old and unnecessary devices in households. At the same time, the project aims at gentle recycling and use of raw materials (iron, copper, aluminum, glass, etc.) for further processing.
The campaign also has a charitable meaning, from each selected phone 10 crowns go to help the Jedlička Institute. By actively participating in the campaign, Prague 2 also contributed to charity, and the town hall is already planning to do it again next year.
