Onset of winter in Austria – snow is coming this week – weather
Wednesday will be calm and mild under the influence of intermediate highs, but will be foggy and cloudy and cool in places in the lowlands. During the night on Thursday and on Thursday, even the cold front of the low “Philomena” with its core between Iceland and the British Isles temporarily caused wet conditions. After the front has passed, the high pressure will come through again and the temperatures will rise again to values that are above average for the time of year.
Am Wednesday In the Danube region, in the east and in the southern basins, there is sometimes thick high fog, especially in the north-east it remains cloudy for a long time and there is some drizzle in the Waldviertel. In contrast, the sun often shines in the northern Alps and in the eastern highlands. From the afternoon onwards, more clouds will appear in the west and in Vorarlberg it will also start to rain in the evening. In the lowlands, the south-east wind blows moderately and in southern Styria and the Koralpe the Jauk freshens up briskly.
In the night on Thursday The rain spreads further to the east and reaches Upper Austria, Salzburg and parts of western Styria by the early morning hours. Over 1,600 meters of snow will temporarily fall in the west.
Rain roller on the way
Of the Thursday It started out wet, especially in the western half and it was cloudy in the rest of the country before it started to rain in the east early in the morning. Meanwhile, dry weather will prevail again in the west and will loosen up from the midday hours. It stays wet the longest in the south, where the rain only stops in the evening. The wind will pick up and blow moderately from north-westerly directions.
Am Friday beware of a few patches of fog, especially in the south and on the north side of the Alps in the predestined valleys and basins. After these have dissipated in the course of the morning, a friendly mix of sun and veil clouds sets in across the country. In addition, only weak to moderate north-easterly winds will blow.
