The construction of the P+R parking garage near metro station C Opatov will cost the capital 798.4 million crowns including VAT. Yesterday, the serving councilors of the capital city approved the selection of the supplier, which is the association of BAK stavební společnost, Metrostav DIZ and Geosan Group. The house will have a capacity of 495 places and its green roof will connect to the park. Construction should start at the end of next year and last about 18 months. Deputy Mayor for Transport Adam Scheinherr (Praha Sobě) informed about it.
The planned building will be built in the Opatov area in Prague 11 on the eastern side of Chilská Street. It will be located at the exit from the D1 highway, where the majority of cars arrive in the capital from the southeast, and at the same time, the building will be connected to the Opatov metro station and bus stops.
“It will be a unique transport structure. We were looking for a way to work elegantly with the surrounding terrain, not to destroy it, to incorporate the P+R parking lot into it, and also to create a new place full of greenery for spending free time,” said Scheinherr.
The parking garage is designed as a four-story building with a semi-amp layout of internal ramps that show the lowest space requirements. There will be a total of 495 parking spaces for vehicles, at the same time 10 spaces for people with severe mobility impairments and 43 spaces where it is possible to park a CNG or LPG car are proposed here. It will also be possible to park 32 bicycles in the building, and charging stations will be installed in reserved parking spaces for electric cars.

In addition, the building will also include a park occupying an area of former insulating value. In the part immediately adjacent to the western part of the neighboring Šalounov Nursing Home, a quiet corner with a sitting area is to be created. Exercise elements will also be installed here.
Subsequently, it will rise up to the level of the parking garage, where a residential green roof will be created. The lower and upper levels of the park will be connected by three concrete staircases and two barrier-free ramps.
Last year, Prague completed the construction of a P+R parking garage for 886 cars at Černý Most for around half a billion crowns. Some time ago, it started the construction of another one near the Nové Butovice metro station, which is to have 400 stalls and cost 293 million crowns, ČTK reported. Another house is planned by the municipality, for example, in Zličín.
P+R parking lots are intended primarily for commuters in Central Bohemia and are intended to ease traffic in the metropolis by allowing drivers to leave their cars on the outskirts of the city and continue using public transport.
