The first part of the champions’ dream had no sequence and the two candidates were tied at 3-3
The U-19 National Team drew 3-3 with Spain in the great test of the World Cup that took place in San Juan, Argentina.
After 23-0 over the USA, the Portuguese team made a first part of the dream, with Vítor “Viti” Oliveira assisting Tiago Sanches in the 4′, for a minute later the ball and making the 2-0 in individual play.
At 21″ it was Diogo Rodrigues to assist Filipe Martins for the 3-0. Portugal was safe in defense, committing few fouls, and was faster on the ball when attacking.
Spanish champions, international champions, increased the intensity in the second half, the game changed completely and two goals from Saavedra and one from Cervera made the tie, eight minutes from time. The teams also made a penalty shoot-out, which the Portuguese won 2-0.
For Kiko Fernandes, who defended the national goal, it was “an incredible game, in the best pavilion in the world”. “Playing here is an incredible feeling and we are going to play in the final, which is to win. The star was the team, which was always united”, added the goalkeeper.
Portugal will face Great Britain this Tuesday (7:00 pm) and Thursday closes the group stage against Colombia (7:00 pm). The first two steps to the semi-finals.
