Keymusic in the Netherlands continues with pop-up stores
Keymusic, which went bankrupt in mid-September, will continue with two pop-up stores in the Netherlands. They are founded by former owner Jan ‘t Hoen, who will sell the stock he has bought in Utrecht and Eindhoven. The webshop will also open again.
“In the end, a pop-up turned out to be the best solution,” says curator Duco van Dongen. Simultaneous interest in a relaunch, but according to him their bids were much too low. He saw no salvation in a veil. “You disrupt the market if hundreds of thousands of euros worth of stuff comes on the internet. That does not benefit anyone,” he tells RetailTrends.
Keymusic also went bankrupt in 2019, later the chain was bought by Jan ‘t Hoen. The intention was to continue until forty, but the corona crisis puts a spanner in the works. ‘t Hoen dropped the growth scenario and cut the store network, but it turned out not to be enough to keep its head above water. When ‘t Hoen filed for bankruptcy, there were still three own stores in the Netherlands: in Eindhoven, Utrecht and Rotterdam.
Although in the first instance it concerns temporary matters, ‘t Hoen does not rule out the possibility that he will continue with it. “If we have enough customers and they are good, why not?” He expects the stores to open around November 15.
Also in Belgium, where Keymusic had stores in Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent, no buyer has been found. According to auction house Hammertime, the household effects there will be auctioned later this month.
