Prague has an active mobility strategy and standard non-motorized infrastructure
Standards for active mobility in Prague
The standards define specific principles, rules and parameters for planning, designing and projecting infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, respectively all users of active mobility in the territory of the capital. m of Prague. They are thus the “implementation” document of the Strategy. Standards do not replace legal or technical standards, nor existing valid strategic and conceptual documents, but supplement them. then they define a “standard” solution for pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure primarily for the territory of Prague. The standards define the optimal condition to which it is necessary to measure and which must be met in construction actions (new buildings or renovations), and which may not only be observed by non-construction modifications.
In their text, the standards deal relatively extensively with design principles and pedestrian standards. The following are defined for standard cycling infrastructures principles: continuity, directness, attractiveness, safety, comfort and speed. The infrastructure is designed with different in mind groups of cyclists (new and inexperienced, moderately experienced, experienced, professional).
It is defined hierarchy of cycling infrastructureand the resulting trinity of standards (highest, higher and basic). The highest standard corresponds to the recently defined superior routes, the higher standard should meet the majority of cycling routes. The basic standard applies to all cyclists on accessible roads.
