Landjugend Salzburg: Symposium of the future – YOU.ICH.WE. – FOR A TOMORROW TOGETHER
How will we build and live in the future? How will we heat in the future or what kind of energy will we use? How to prepare for a possible blackout? How is our society developing in the world of work? These questions were examined more closely on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Symposium of the Future. Almost 40 rural youth members and interested parties were able to get trend-setting inputs in the parish festival hall.
In the course of this year’s main topic of the rural youth Salzburg “DU.ICH.WIR. – FOR A COMMON TOMORROW” the topics of energy transition, living in the future, preparation for a possible blackout and working in the future were examined in more detail in exciting lectures with top-class speakers at this future evening.
Energy transition – get out of the fossil dependency
DI Dr. Gerhard Löffler MBA, head of department for energy management and consulting in the province of Salzburg, reported on the energy transition and how we create this renewable energy. Only a combination of renewable energies would be expedient, relying solely on solar energy, for example, would not be enough. Independence from fossil fuels is also an opportunity for Salzburg to expand regional added value. The less fossil fuels are needed, the more money stays in the region.
Living – a life’s work
The day before by Univ.-Prof. dr Andreas Koch from the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg in the Department of Sociology and Social Geography in the Department of Social Geography deals with biographical paths, neighborhoods/communities and places of residence. Apartments are becoming more and more of a commodity and are often no longer based on the needs of society.
What to do if the power goes out?
Managing Director Wolfgang Hartl presented the Salzburg civil protection association. The principle of worldwide civil protection is to pass on information to the population about protective measures against dangers from nature, technology and everyday life. The best way to protect yourself is through private crisis prevention. A blackout is a longer-lasting and nationwide power and infrastructure failure that can probably be overcome through preparation and perseverance. Tips & tricks as well as a list of things to have at home is available on the civil protection association’s website.
New way of working
Alexander Aigner from UNIQA in Salzburg presented the different generations and their expectations of the world of work. Communication and commitment are keywords that were examined in more detail. The topic could be illustrated in a very practical way on the basis of field reports about his young team.
The future evening was concluded with a panel discussion in which the members present could ask questions. The interest of the members was underlined by the numerous questions, because it is clear to them that “only we can shape our future!”.
