According to the prefecture, the account is there! This Monday, October 31, 2022, 30 peacekeepers have taken up their duties with the Rouen policebringing to 60 the number of new police officers in the district, as promised by the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.
More police to patrol the streets of Rouen
When they took office on Monday, the 30 agents were reminded by the prefect of their priorities: “presence on public roads and transport, the fight against drug trafficking, the fight against violence in all its forms, exemplary and professionalism”.
Objective, to reduce crime in the district of Rouen–Elbeuf. They will contribute in particular to the effort of presence on the public highway started since last September which has, according to the prefect Pierre-André Durandbearing fruit :
- -12% of thefts with violence,
- -24% of violence in public transport over the same period,
- -7.5% of intra-family violence,
- 11 devices seized during rodeos,
- 361 anti-drug tort fixed fines,
- +11% hours spent off premises for police and gendarmes,
- +14.7% hours spent on foot patrol,
- +42% patrols in public transport.
Everything for the month of September 2022 relates to the same period last year.
Part of these reinforcements will also be assigned to the investigation, assures Nicolas Bouferguène, departmental director of public security, a few weeks ago. “Beyond quantity [des effectifs supplémentaires], what matters is what you do with it. »
What to calm the concerns of the unions who remained circumspect while welcoming the arrival of new staff? And enough to convince the mayor of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, who judged for his part that the account was not there? The results will no doubt be expected at the turn.
