Prague firefighters from several units responded to a fire in an apartment in Řepy, from which they rescued six people and a dog. Five people had to be treated by rescuers, the city district provided alternative accommodation. The damage is estimated at one million crowns, the cause is not yet known.
The fire was reported to the operations center on Saturday, October 29 at a quarter to six in the evening. An apartment in a block of flats in Laudova Street in Řepych was on fire. Firefighters from four professional and one volunteer station fought the fire, they intervened from inside and outside using high-altitude equipment.
Eight people were evacuated from the house, six of them and a dog were rescued directly from the fire.
“Now we take care of 5 people. We provide thermal comfort for four of them, one of them, suffering from asthma, is being examined as a precaution. The doctor who was also sent to the scene was ultimately not needed and is returning to base.” informed on Twitter the spokesperson of the Prague rescuers Jana Poštová a few minutes after six o’clock.
“Firefighters used 2 water jets in a breathing technique for localization, while the rescue and evacuation of people took place at the same time. The location was reported shortly after 6 p.m.,” said the spokesperson of the Prague fire department in a statement to journalists Kateřina Suchánská.
Because it was fully affected, its inhabitants had to go to alternative accommodation provided by the Prague 17 district.
Firefighters estimate the damage at one million crowns, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
